Sally Potter's self-reflective film stars Potter (an actress and the director of Orlando), more or less as herself, learning to tango from master dancer Pablo Veron and considering making a film called The Tango Lesson. The film that we happen to be watching, however, is concerned largely with the delicious conflict between the politics of tango--the need for one partner, typically the woman, to yield to the other--and the expectations of the filmmaker to do things on her own terms. Can Potter simultaneously surrender and control for the duration of this circular project? The question is made more complicated by Veron's desire to be in one of Potter's films--in other words, to follow her lead. Potter may not be Veron's equal on the dance floor, but that isn't the point of this interesting movie and its provocative, internal debate. --Tom Keogh

I love this movie. I am 80 years old and I would be willing to pay $25.00. But even that is pushing my budget. Is there any help somewhere? Vince
    Tango traumas....Whining, kwetching, farbissoner..oy vey...2010-03-061 / 5
Bought the music first, lovely, delightful, enchanting...then I saw the film. Oy...some people just don't have a gift for passion, don't have the skills to enjoy
the poetry of dance. Kwetching (bitter complaining...for my goy readers...) is not true emotion, it's a psychological disorder...Can you imagine her stepping on
to the floor of Tango dance boite...what gloom, what sour discontent would suddenly infect the place...People would be packing up, suddenly realizing they
have to call their dentist for their semi-annual root canal operation. Otherwise is fascinating exercise in adult onset adolescent self-indulgence...

The dance numbers are great. SP does a good job dancing with Pablo. Argentine tango takes a lot of work and dedication. The movie is believable, the casting excellent, scenes shot on location are authentic. I watch it over and over. The sound track is excellent.
    Review of The Tango Lesson2009-08-134 / 5
The video was very good. However I would have liked to have known that it was German. The subtitles were all in German, so when they spoke French or Spanish, I couldn't understand. Other than that the video was excellent.

The service from was excellent, I could not fault it.

There is no written detailed information.
So the DVD is felt that copied one.
Do you understand what I mean?
    And the screen is dark.
