International pressing. 2009 debut album from the hotly tipped UK outfit fonted by Florence Welch. Lungs, produced by Paul Epworth, James Ford and Steve Mackay, is an intoxicating mix of delicate fragility, dark humor and twisted Tim Burton style fairy-tales. From the live favourite 'You've Got The Love' to the raw Blues-tinged 'Girl With One Eye' to the beautifully painful 'Between Two Lungs', the album is crammed with crowd pleasers. Also boasting fresh tracks like new single 'Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)', 'Drumming' - with its epic denseness, the terrifyingly brilliant 'Howl' and 'Hurricane Drunk' with it's paradoxical charms of heartbreak, love and loss, Lungs promises to leave us wanting more of the insanely captivating Florence Welch. Universal. 2009.

    Love, Love Love.....2010-09-055 / 5
Never heard of Florence & the machine until i started hearing the song "Dog days are over" on assorted tv shows and commercials. The more i heard , the more i wanted to hear. Finally got the album, and have been listening nonstop ever since. Every song is genious and beautiful in its own way. My personal favs are "Cosmic Love", "drumming Song", and "Rabbit Heart" but they are all wonderful. Very talented artist, and i hope she gets all the recognition she deserves, and keeps making gorgeous music.
Love the Music, But Hate the Headache!2010-08-293 / 5
I bought 'Lungs' after reading many positive reviews, and must say that I am more than impressed with the performance, songwriting and arrangements on the album. With the exception of the first three songs (two of which just feel out of place on this album) every song is a winner. Florence Welch's voice takes a little getting used to, but she sings with such power and conviction that it's well worth the effort. Performance wise, this is a 4-5 star effort.

That said, I find it extremely difficult to listen to this CD. It is without a doubt one of the most (if not THE most) horribly compressed recordings I've ever had the misfortune to hear. I'm surprised that this isn't mentioned in more of the reviews on . Whoever mastered this recording should be taken out, shot, buried, dug up and shot again. I end up with a headache every time I listen to it.

I'm considering buying the vinyl edition in the hope that it might not suffer from the same 100% compression the CD does. But I don't hold out much hope.

Not as good as I'd hoped! "Dog Days are Over" is the only good song. This album is front-loaded. A disappointment.

This is simply amazing and addicting. I wake up in the morning with these songs stuck in my head!
