I have just gone to chant with him and a band of his talented musicians in Big Island, and it was blissful(or soulful, you may say)experience as always.
This CD is an updated version of KD's live kirtan. Well, there may be an argument about sound quality, but this is how he performes his Kirtan right now. Bajhan selctions and their playing orders(except "Jesus on the main line"). Of course, not all the bajhans are in this, but the essence of his live Kirtan is all here.
So, I say this one is "as close as it gets" to experience a recent Krishna Das kirtan at your home, and I go to tell you, his voice sounds better each added year, mellower and deeper.
If you haven't seen him in a live recently, this one is a "must-have".

I have been grateful for the work of Krishna Das for some time now. I have all of his CDs, and appreciate them all.
That said, this CD feels particularly special to me. It is rich with feeling and spirit - richer than usual. Within a few seconds of hearing the samples of this offering, I rushed to buy it. It touched me. Deeply.
And when I was able to listen to the entire effort, I was even more touched. It truly opened my heart. The feelings held in these sacred songs helped me to feel. And since this CD came into my life at a time when my heart was closed, and feeling was hard, I'm especially grateful to Krishna Das for this work.
Each time I listen to this wonderful recording, I am moved. Sometimes I moved to deep peace. Sometimes I am moved to rise and dance. Sometimes I am moved to tears. This CD moves me.
Of all the many offerings by Krishna Das, this is my personal favorite. You can't go wrong with any of his CDs, of course. This one just speaks to my heart.
Thank you for Krishna Das for the gift of your voice, and the transparency of your spirit. You've touched me and I'm grateful. |
