Sounding like the confident, ambitious superstars they already are in their native UK, Muse follows up their breakthrough
Absolution with an album that tempers the trio's unabashed grandiosity and apocalyptic obsessions with a smart pop groove. The minimalist angst of the opening "Take A Bow" may bridge the goth-pop conceits of the collection's successful predecessor, but those expectations are quickly kicked aside by "Starlight"'s synth-pop bliss, the falsettoed, space-disco thump of "Supermassive Black Hole" and the chilly, New Wave redux sheen of "Map of the Problematic"; so much for being held hostage to those early Radiohead comparisons. Indeed, on the lilting "Soldier's Poem" vocalist Matthew Bellamy cannily channels Freddie Mercury while "Assassin" pulses with the familiar metallic nerve and lyrical dread of Muse past. But by the time "Knights of Cydonia" erupts in a wrenching, melodramatic climax that somehow fuses ELP, Davie Allan, Procul Harum and Chris Isaak with enough giddy abandon to suspend disbelief, Muse have long since proved their case as genre-be-damned rock world-beaters.

| I was recently introduced to Muse by my middle brother this past March. I saw them in concert without really knowing the inner workings of the band, but their stage presence and sound is beyond what I expected. They have a spectacular light show and seek to strike every cord or beat with striving perfection. A must see and a must listen |
| Possibly the best Muse album | 2010-04-10 | 5 / 5 |

| This is a far superior album to the new release. The other reviews sum it up nicely, but this is more like Absolution (3rd album?). The songs are a little heavier and faster than Resistance. I know this is a short review, but if you like the previous album, then get this... if you like Resistance, then listen to something else. (This would be like Radiohead The Bends as opposed to Kid A) |
| Best band in the world! | 2010-02-24 | 5 / 5 |

| MUSE is one of the best bands of all time. Period. Being a prog rock and rock fan of music, for me they are up there with Genesis (old Genesis), Rush and the Beatles. The genius of Matt Bellamy as a song writer, gifted pianist and guitarist continues to amaze me. Obviously, I own a lot of MUSE music. Prior to purchasing this CD/DVD combo I was already obsessed with BHAR and already owned 2 copies. What an accomplishment this album was for the band! But to include the Absolution concert DVD in with this purchase makes it my best MUSE purchase to date, excluding concert tickets of course. The Absolution DVD is a tough one to acquire if you live in the states like me. But at last I found it and did not hesitate to pay $70 for it. I had seen the Absolution concert on Muse's website (check it out muse.mu....it's bar none the best band website I have ever seen) and I knew I had to find it so I could blast it through the huge speakers in my living room. The version of Muscle Museum on this DVD alone makes the purchase worthwhile. Well done MUSE. |

| Some cats at my workplace told me this was good. They played it for me and I was hooked. It is a nice mix of electronics and rock music. The groove of the music is catchy and the sound is alluring. i recommend it. I have heard other albums by them which are good as well. I do not think they have anything that is bad. |

| Can't really add more to what has already been said. But I love this album "cover to cover." |
